Gary Bollan has been appointed manager at Forfar Athletic, and is set to officially take the role on Wednesday.

Bollan will also officially meet the players for the first time that night at training.

He has spent the last three seasons managing Airdrieonians Football Club, having previously managed Livingston from 2009 to 2012.

Bollan will be joined at Station Park by his assistant at Airdrie, Stuart Balmer, who will be assuming a similar role. His backrooom staff will be completed by Ian Flaherty, who joins the club as Assistant Coach.

A statement on the club’s website added: “As was well documented last week, the Station Park Directors were delighted with the calibre of the applicants for the post and it was only after an extensive interviewing process that they came to the unanimous decision that Gary was the man in their opinion to take the club forward in what are difficult times.

“He will obviously be in charge of the team for the visit of league leaders Dunfermline Athletic on Boxing Day and we are sure the home support will give him a warm welcome.

“The club would like to put on record their thanks to all who applied officially or noted an interest in the post and wish them all well for their future in the game.

“The Forfar Athletic Directors would also like to thank their counterparts at Airdrie for their co-operation in making the appointment possible and their thanks are also extended to Stewart Petrie and Barry Sellars who prepared the team in a very professional manner for the trip to Coatbridge on Saturday past.”
