Forfar Boys Football Club are holding an afternoon of football fun on Saturday (May 25) with all at the club invited to take part.

The sponsored event at Station Park, home of Forfar Athletic, will have opportunities for the boys to show off their skills, agility, accuracy and speed in a variety of team activities arranged by ‘Hotshots Powershot Ltd.’

There will be certificates for all who take part and medals for the top performers.

For the final event each player has three shots and must kick the ball as hard as they can, the speed of the shot will be measured with a radar gun and display unit.

Other events include a fastest with the ball slalom race, a crossbar challenge and a target shot.

The players will be sponsored to “buy” themselves speed so the hardest working fundraiser has the best chance of winning the “hotshot” trophy.

As this will be the only sponsored event the club will hold this year they are asking each participant to raise a minimum of £10 sponsorship. Friends of the club are also welcome but they must also raise the miniumum amount to take part.

On the day there will also be a BBQ, bottle stall, raffle, home baking, a pancake stall, face painting, bar and car boot sale. The cost of the car boot sale is £10 per car with limited spaces. Contact Alison Neave on 01307 465469 to book your pitch.

It is sure to be a great day for all the family and the club would really appreciate all your support.

Hotshot Powershots was set up by Bobby Jenks and Dave Anderson as a way of working with youth football teams to enable them to raise funds in a fun way with no financial risk.

They said: “The idea really took off after we held a Hotshots League with STV’s Scotsport SPL to find which professional player had the fastest shot in Scotland.

“And following on from that, we have now worked with many senior clubs, SFA Coaches, SYFA finals, universities, gala days, St Johnstone and Dundee open days, community policing, schools and youth clubs, with this initiative.”
