Finavon continued to build on their excellent home form with a comfortable win against Millgate at Lochside.
Although it was not Finavon’s finest first half, they did spurn a number of excellent opportunities to take the lead before the tireless Jamie Smith calmly stroked the ball into the net after it broke to him inside the box.
A stern talking-to from manager Gary Nisbet at half-time seemed to waken the team up, with Finavon producing a much improved performance in the second half to turn the game in to more of a one-sided affair. An unprecedented second for Jamie, strikes from Fraser Sturrock and Aaron McDonald and a well worked goal from substitute Michael Farquharson ensured that Finavon ran out 5-0 winners.
Next week will see Finavon make an appearance in the third round of the Tayside Cup, away to league rivals Porty. In what is always a close game, Finavon will be looking to avenge a 3-2 defeat earlier in the year.
