Fairmuir take good result from Forfar

FORFAR Boys’ under-11s produced two resolute performances against Dundee side Fairmuir at the Forfar Academy playing fields on Sunday.

The first half of the first game was a fairly even affair with Forfar coming close when Lewis Davison shot wide from a Cameron Fleming cutback, then Liam Jones’ shot on the turn brought out the best from the Dundee ‘keeper.

Fairmuir took the lead five minutes before half-time when a striker fired into the net despite the best efforts of Jamie Noble and Jack Balfour.

In the second period, Robbie Davidson hit the crossbar as Forfar pressed while Calum Kelman and Davison both came close to levelling matters for the hosts. But it was the Dundee side which scored next when they extended their lead on 35 minutes and added a third minutes later.

Lewis McSherry came close for Forfar before DAVIDSON grabbed a deserved consolation with a fine strike with four minutes to go.

Team: Noble, Balfour, Davison, Fleming, Kelman, McSherry, Jones. Subs - R Davidson, Sturrock (trialist).

In the second game Ewan Miller almost gave Forfar a dream start when he fired over the bar in five minutes, while Jack Neave tested the Fairmuir ‘keeper two minutes later.

The visitors opened the scoring following a corner and added a second three minutes later.

Forfar pulled a goal back when Neave’s lobbed pass found Robbie McLAUCHLAN in space and he fired past the advancing Fairmuir ‘keeper.

Miller tried his luck again before Fairmuir added a third on the stroke of half-time.

In the second half Forfar fell further behind early on while Noble produced a series of fine saves to keep the score down.

Nathan CLARK reduced the leeway on 39 minutes with a long-range drive and goals from Aaron MORRISON and McLAUCHLAN again brought Forfar level with seven minutes left.

However, Fairmuir scored straight from the kick-off and added another from the penalty spot before CLARK brought Forfar back into it with his second with two minutes left. Fairmuir scored again in the closing stages.

Team: Noble, Short, Miller, Morrison, Neave, Forbes, McLauchlan. Subs - Clark, C Davidson.
