Derek Soutar joins Forfar Athletic

Forfar Athletic manager Dick Campbell has completed the signing of experienced 31-year-old goalkeeper Derek Soutar after the Dundee based player negotiated his release from Highland League Formartine United.

Derek began his senior career at Dens Park, being loaned out during his time with Dundee to both Brechin City and Alloa Athletic.

He moved to Aberdeen in 2006 and after a two year spell at Pittodrie he moved on to Ross County, Dundee for a second spell before a brief flirtation in Cypriot football.

He then surprised many by joining ambitious Formartine in January 2011 on a 30 month contract.

Derek who made eleven appearances for the Scottish Under 21 side earlier in his career has signed a two year deal at Station Park.

Left sided defender Iain Campbell has also agreed to extend his Station Park stay for a fourth season, signing a new one year contract.

Manager Dick Campbell has also added a fifth pre-season joust with a visit to Riccarton to take on East of Scotland Premier League side Heriot Watt pencilled in for Thursday, July 19.
