Derby delight for four-goal Forfar

FORFAR Athletic gave Brechin City a roasting in the latest derby match played at Station Park on Saturday (today).

The injury-hit Loons were far too sharp for sorry City and cruised to a three-goal lead by the interval.

Martyn Fotheringham’s deft head-flick from man-of-the-match Nicky Low’s cross opened the scoring in 20 minutes, and Low was on hand to net number two in 32 minutes, catching Craig Nelson out with a free-kick on the right after Hilson had been tugged back as he broke clear.

Forfar’s third was a real cracker, Kevin Byers lobbing his marker and fizzing a great shot high past Nelson from just inside the area.

Brechin pulled a goal back through a Scott Buist header from a free-kick a minute into the second half.

But there was to be bo come back as Forfar continued to give the reds a footballing lesson, scoring a fourth in 67 minutes.

Martyn Fotheringham was the marksman from the penalty spot after Nicky Low had been upended in the box.
