Forfar Athletic have been drawn away to East Fife in the newly-renamed Petrofac Training Cup - the sponsored title of the Challenge Cup won by Raith Rovers last season.
The tie is scheduled to take place at Bayview Stadium on Saturday, July 26 and is the second successive year in which these sides will meet at this stage of the Challenge Cup.
After six meetings across all competitions last year, Loons fans might have been forgiven for saying good riddance when the Fife outfit were relegated in their playoff with Stirling Albion but fate has thrown the foes together once again.
Dick Campbell’s charges were victorious in their Challenge Cup encounter at Station Park last year, Omar Kader and Stuart Malcolm helping the Loons to a 2-1 victory.
Forfar followed that up by winning 3-1 and 2-0 in the league and 2-1 in the Scottish Cup while East Fife won 2-1 at Bayview in the league in January before recording the same scoreline at Station Park in March.
Meanwhile Falkirk have pulled out of the scheduled friendly on Monday, July 14, with Forfar officials eager to find a replacement opponent.
