Have your say

SUPPORTERS of one Angus team in particular were treated to a spectacular 90 minutes on Saturday afternoon. (writes Sarah McLean).

Forfar might not have had the best season so far, and they certainly didn’t go about their win the easy way, but the 4-3 result over Stirling Albion certainly gave the crowd their money’s worth. Two of the goals came within mere seconds of each other and the winner was scored in the last gasp of the game - that’s the kind of football that really keeps your attention.

Elsewhere, Montrose pulled off a respectable 2-1 win at Annan with goals coming from Garry Wood and Jamie Winter. Although it won’t be enough to boost them much further up the table it is enough to do the job and keep them from the bottom spot.

Promotion pushing Arbroath suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Airdrie United which has kept them a good seven points behind Cowdenbeath for the second division top spot.

Brechin City were also unlucky as they were defeated 3-1 to East Fife at Glebe Park. Despite Ewan Moyes early opener, Brechin could not hold onto the lead and East Fife had equalised by the 35th minute. The rest, as they say, is history, and Brechin remain seventh in the table, four points ahead of Forfar Athletic.

Elsewhere in Scotland, on Sunday more than a few pairs of eyes were glued to Old Firm action at Ibrox. With the threat of Celtic possibly going on to win the league over the course of the 90 minutes tensions were high...As was shown with the three red cards dished out and the banishment of Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

Red cards happen in football, it’s a fact of life, especially in matches such as the Old Firm. However, managers getting sent to the stands, or in Lennon’s case, sent back to the dressing room to watch the match on TV, is never a good thing to see.

Some may argue that it just shows passion for the team but in most cases it looks like someone who can’t keep a cool head when they are supposed to be in charge. With such an emphasis placed on discipline in the game these days, a good example should be made, not an example of one throwing toys out of the pram when they don’t get their own way.
