Thistle crashed out of the GA Engineering Cup at the hands of North Super League opponents Deveronside after a lacklustre performance, writes Glen Barclay.
Deveronside came firing out of the blocks, with Blackhall almost profiting from a misplaced Kris Morrice pass, nicking in but firing well over.
Thistle reacted well, almost taking the lead themselves, Gary Archibald volleying low on the turn bringing a fine stop from the keeper.
After a relatively poor first 40 minutes, Thistle burst into life before the break and would have taken a 2-0 lead in at half time if it wasn’t for Tait in the home goal.
After a good spell of pressure in the second half Thistle were caught out when a long punt up field by W. Murdo was controlled by Smith inside the area then smashed in, a perfect example of route one football.
Thistle had one last chance to level but Stewart Russell could only divert his effort wide of the post, ending Kirrie’s GA Engineering Cup campaign.
