Busy time of sport at Academy

With the new school year comes a new sporting calendar for the sports teams in Forfar Academy.

With teams of all ages and in many different activities it is a busy time of year for all involved.

The U-15s (S1-S3) girls football team has been in early Scottish Cup action with a three-two victory over Meldrum Academy from Inverurie.

Goals came from Sophie Young (S1) and Rebekah Brown (S2).

A solid team performance from all involved, including a number of debuts from the new S1 players.

The senior (S4-S6) boys football team have also been in Scottish Cup action against Balwearie High School from Fife.

Unfortunately the boys suffered a three-one defeat, with the goal being scored by Scott Fullerton (S5).

Had the boys been able to finish all the chances they created it could have been a different story. Overall it was solid team performance with Jason Fyfe being named man-of-match.

It is a busy week for football this week as no fewer than four games are to be played.

The S3 boys are to play Glenrothes High School, the S2 boys play Kirkcaldy High School, the S1 boys have a local derby at Webster’s High School and the senior girls (S4-S6) entertain the Nicholson Institute from Stornoway.

Basketball is also underway for the new season and the senior (S4-S6) girls have made a successful start to their Scottish Cup campaign with a 34-25 victory over Monifieth High School.

The next game for the girls is to be played on Thursday (tomorrow) against Grove at Forfar Academy.
