Around the grounds

LOCALLY, the only club to have any action over the weekend was Arbroath, writes Sarah McLean.

And at least it was a successful one for them. They went through to the semi-finals of the Ramsdens Cup after a 1-0 defeat of Stenhousemuir.

Scott Robertson netted the only goal - which proved to be enough to secure them a place in the final four. Stenhousemuir had a last gasp penalty opportunity but Stewart Kean made a mess of it, blasting high over the crossbar.

The next Ramsdens quarter-final tie will be Rangers against Queen of the South and then we will find out who Arbroath will face in the next round.

It was a fairly quiet week elsewhere in Angus due to the international break but it’s business as usual this weekend.

We have the first Angus derby of the season when Brechin City travel to Forfar Athletic.

Arbroath will face East Fife at Gayfield and Montrose will welcome Berwick Rangers to Links Park.
