Strathmore 35, Caithness 6
Strathmore recorded another excellent home victory on Saturday against Caithness in what can only be described as horrendous weather conditions down at Inchmacoble.
The continuous torrential rain meant the ground staff had to sweep water off the pitch to allow the game to go ahead, however the Strathie players certainly repaid their hard work and gave the hardy supporters who turned out to cheer their team on something to cheer about.
Try scorers were Mark Bradley with two tries, James Kiely and substitute Blair Marshall. Stewart Ross kicked three conversions and three Penalties. Man of the match went to forward Calum Nicol for a standout display in the difficult conditions.
This convincing victory brought bonus points and moved Strathmore up to second place in the League only four points behind league leaders, Perthshire.
Meanwhile, Strathie’s Second XV were also at home on Saturday to Perthshire 2’s however they were on the losing end of a good game with Perthshire winning 50-3.
This weekend Strathie’s first XV are away to Gordonians in another league encounter with the Second XV at home to Arbroath in a local derby. It is a 3 p.m. kick-off.
