Over 250 runners from clubs across Angus, Perthshire and Fife converged at Forfar Loch Country Park on Sunday for the Hartley Cup Relays.

With ages ranging from seven to over 70, 50 teams completed the lochside course with each runner completing two 1.3 mile laps.

Kinross Road Runners were first back in the men’s competition finishing almost two minutes clear of last year’s winners, Anster Haddies, with Dundee Road Runners taking third place.

Kinross’s ladies’ team was also victorious, winning by a huge margin of over 10 minutes to retain the club’s title as ladies’ champions, with Anster Haddies and Beacon Runners taking second and third spots.

There was success for the home club with Forfar’s Stephen Connor, Craig Stewart, Tracy Morgan, Karen Campbell and Brian Bonnyman winning the mixed team prize ahead of Beacon Runners and Wee County Harriers.

In the Junior Under-18 competition, Strathearn Harriers were clear winners ahead of Kinross juniors, while in the closely fought Under-13 competition, where runners completed a single lap of the course, the Kinross team pipped Strathearn Harriers by 37 seconds, with Anster Haddies taking third.

The prize for the fastest lap of the day went to Forfar’s Brian Bonnyman who clocked seven minutes, five seconds, with Kinross’s Iona Crawford the fastest lady with a time of 7.48. Fastest male junior (and second fastest overall time of the day) went to Kinross’s Euan Boyce with 7.08 with club mate Annabel Simpson taking fastest female junior prize in 7.56.
