STRATHMORE Cricket Club's first eleven had a false dawn on Saturday as they attempted to kick-start the defence of their Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union title.
Unfortunately their match at Rossie Priory was called off due to bad weather.
It is hoped the league season will now get underway for the Lochside men this coming Saturday, when they face a trip to newly-promoted Cupar.
The season at Lochside
finally got underway on Sunday when the second eleven were rather disappointing in a heavy defeat to Strathearn.
The bowlers had looked good in the first innings, restricting their visitors from Perth to 133.
Chris Milne returned excellent figures in his nine-over spell, with fellow spinner Mubeen and seamer Adil Ali also impressing.
Unfortunately, after the interval, the batters could not respond.
Only Mubeen and Tony Milne reached double figures as the home side had no answer to the visitor's Dellaquaglia and were skittled for a meagre 75.
Strathearn - 133 all out (A. Hussain, 31; C. Milne 3 for 11).
Strathmore XI - 75 all out (T. Dellaquaglia 5 for 13).
