A YOUNG Angus Pony Club rider, who has battled back from a horrific accident, is the latest recipient of the Forfar Roof Truss Company £250 sponsorship award.
Lauren McLean, a 13-year-old from Kingoldrum, receives the March award ahead of her trip to the International Windsor Horse Show to be held between May 8 and 11.

Lauren, who, at the age of two and a half, was involved in a serious accident which resulted in her losing her left foot, has been chosen as one of six-strong team to represent Scotland in the Pony Club Mounted Games competition for the Prince Phillip Cup.

The Scottish team will compete against teams from England, Ireland and Wales for the silverware, Lauren being joined by riders from Perthshire, Kirkintilloch, Ayrshire and Orkney for the trip south.

Lauren's selection for the Scottish team shows that she does not allow her disability to hinder her ambitions.

The Pony Club is represented in 14 countries and has over 110,000 members, many of the riders competing in mounted games.

The team game provides competition requiring courage, determination and all-round riding ability, and is designed for ordinary children riding ordinary ponies.
