FORFAR Athletic recorded their first win under new manager Dick Campbell, coming from one-nil down at half-time to defeat Brechin City by three goals to one at Station Park on Tuesday evening.

The result delighted the manager, who wants to see his side continue to improve as he strengthens the squad.

"All I want to do at present is see us get better," he commented. "It was a victory in a derby and it is good for the fans.

"I am continuing to strengthen the squad, and midfield player Darren Brady, formerly of Ross County, has agreed a one-year deal."

The 27-year-old will put pen to paper on Thursday evening, coming to Station Park with the experience of playing for the likes of Airdrie, Livingston, Partick Thistle and Raith Rovers before heading north for a spell at Dingwall.

Forfar take on a Hibs eleven on Thursday evening, hoping to build on a performance full of promise against Brechin City.

The visitors looked the better side in the first half and led courtesy of a headed effort by the Trialist striker, aided by some sloppy defending.

Former Loon Kevin Byers was denied by the woodwork soon after, the ball cannoning on to and over the bar after a neat turn just inside the area.

But Forfar improved markedly in the second period, although the leveller was a tad fortuitous.

Bryan Duell got in the way of an attempted clearance by the goalkeeper, and the ball ricocheted over his head and into the net via the under-side of the bar.

Having netted with the back of his head, Duell put Forfar in front with another headed effort, this time facing the right way, his diving converting a cross from the right and ending a sweet move.

The icing on the cake came with a couple of minutes to go, another excellent Forfar move culminating in Kevin McLeish flicking the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net from the edge of the box.
