THE Southmuir Primary School team members who did well to reach the final of the Rotary District 1010 Primary School Quiz Competition have been congratulated by Kirriemuir Rotarian Jim Miller.
"The team has been a credit to the school and the community in being placed first in the Kirriemuir cluster schools competition, then second in the area competition and ultimately fifth overall in the final of the District 1010 competition held at West Park Auditorium, Dundee, recently," commented Mr Miller.

"In this final they were up against teams from as far afield as Dornoch, Fochabers, Aberdeen, St. Andrews, Burntisland & Kinghorn and Kinross.

"In this day and age when coming first seems all that matters I think that taking part is still very important for young people, whatever the competition.

"Coming fifth out of a total of around 400 schools taking part throughout the area is, I think, a very creditable performance and the team is to be congratulated on that achievement."

The team members each received a dictionary, presented by Rotary District convener Clive Barram after the final of the District 1010 competition.
