POLICE APPEAL OVER ABSCONDER DONALD DAISLEY
TAYSIDE Police are appealing for information that could help trace the whereabouts of 49-year-old Donald Daisley who absconded from HMP Noranside, Fern, Brechin, Angus, in October last year.
Enquiries to date by Tayside Police, working closely with Strathclyde Police, have been unsuccessful in tracing Daisley, who comes from the Glasgow area.
A decision has now been taken, with permission from the Procurator Fiscal, to release his photograph and details.
Donald Daisley was sentenced to three years and ten months in prison at Ayr Sheriff Court in September 2006, after being found guilty of charges relating to fraud and breaches of Trade Marks, Trade Description and Copyright Acts.
He was transferred to HMP Noranside in May 2007, where he was being tested in open conditions.
Daisley was allowed a period of home leave on September 26 last year, but failed to return by October 3 when required.
At the time he was described as being five feet ten inches tall, with short brown hair and green eyes and was of heavy build.
However, more recent information suggests that Daisley's appearance has changed markedly, with him losing weight and growing a full beard. It is also possible that he is using the aliases John Carter or Raymond Fielding.
He has numerous associates in the Glasgow area and is believed to be living in the city, possibly in student accommodation.
Anyone who knows of Daisley's whereabouts should contact Tayside Police immediately on Dundee (01382) 223200, or speak to any officer. Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on (0800) 555 111.
