THE Scottish Parliamentary Cross party group on Tibet is hosting a special meeting on Thursday (tomorrow) which is open to the public.
Lord David Steel will be speaking at this special meeting on his recent trip to Tibet.

Also attending this meeting will be Thubten Samdup, the new Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Northern Europe.

Mr Ron Scrimgeour, a former
councillor with Angus Council and a member of the cross party group, is encouraging anyone in Angus who is interested to attend and hear at first hand an objective assessment of the current situation in Tibet from Lord Steel, a distinguished parliamentarian commentator on world events.

Mr Scrimgeour said: "The Dalai Lama announced at a recent conference in Rome that he was asked by the Chinese government for his views on how to progress the situation in Tibet and His Holiness has made a detailed response. This is very encouraging."

The meeting will take place at 5 pm in Committee Room 1, Holyrood.
The start time may be delayed if there is a vote in Parliament but proceedings will start as close to 5pm as possible.

Those who wish to attend should go to the parliament reception. They will be taken through to Committee Room 1 by parliament staff.
