THE store manager of the British Red Cross Shop in East High Street has thanked a Forfar couple for their donation of £600 which was raised at two family milestones held recently.
Maurice and Freda MacLean visited the shop last week to hand over the donation to store manager Gail Kelly.
Gail explained: "Today I received a donation of £600 from Maurice and Freda MacLean of Potters Park Crescent after they celebrated Mr MacLean's 90th birthday and their diamond wedding anniversary.
"Family and friends have generously donated £600 to the Red Cross. The charity was chosen because Mr MacLean was so grateful for the red cross parcels he received during the Second World War when he was a POW.
"Mr MacLean was head teacher at Tealing School and then at Chapelpark. Mrs MacLean taught at Webster's High School.
"I thought it would be great to let the people of Forfar know of this generous donation and thank the family and friends of Mr and Mrs MacLean."
