A LOCAL teenager has begun 2010 with small screen stardom in one of the nation's most popular children's programmes which returned to television screens on Tuesday (yesterday).
Letham 14-year-old Eilidh Collins is one of the new warriors in the latest series of fantasy game show "Raven", a BAFTA award-winning BBC Scotland creation which has captured the imagination of youngsters across Britain.
Eilidh was part of a field of 8500 hopefuls and won a place as one of just 36 participants in what she described as the experience of a lifetime.
Filming took place last summer at the Lagganlia outdoor centre near Kingussie which series producers use as the setting for a range of challenges the warriors must face.
The youngsters' aim is to be crowned Ultimate Warrior and one of the biggest tests Eilidh has faced since taking part in the programme is keeping how far she progressed in the show a secret from schoolmates at Forfar Academy.
"There were two series' made when we were there, with 18 warriors in each," said Eilidh.
"James Mackenzie, who plays Raven, was really nice_he was all chatty before we went into filming and then took on this serious voice once the challenges started," she added.
The new series began on Tuesday (yesterday) on CBBC and will screen on Thursday (tomorrow) at 4pm.
