A CHARITY ceilidh staged in Kirrie Thistle Social Club at the end of January has resulted in a bumper funds boost for the district nurses operating out of Kirriemuir Health Centre.
The ceilidh was organised by Mary Rennie, as a thank you to the nurses who have been tending to her mother, Annie Grant, at her home in Knowehead, Kirriemuir, for the past three years.
The event, with entertainment provided by George Rennie and friends, was very well supported, and a bumper raffle, with over 70 prizes, bumped the end total up to £733.14.
The donation will be put to good use to further the work of the nurses in the Kirriemuir area.
Handing over the cheque, Annie had warm praise for the work of the nurses in the community, saying she was indebted to the attendance of nurses at her home twice a day to treat her legs.
"I would also like to thank all those who attended the ceilidh and the local businesses and individuals who supported us by donating raffle prizes," added Annie.
