A LOCALLY-BASED nurse has celebrated her retiral from Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre in Forfar after over 40 years of nursing in Tayside.
Senior charge nurse Carol Archibald began her nurse training at Maryfield Hospital in Dundee in 1966.
After qualifying she continued to work at Maryfield in the female medical ward and the renal unit before leaving the NHS in 1972 for various nursing posts in the private sector, including spells as an industrial nurse with Timex and Levi Strauss in Dundee.
Carol then returned to the NHS in 1984, working in medical, surgical and emergency units at Forfar Infirmary and Arbroath Infirmary before facilitating the move from Forfar Infirmary to the newly-built Whitehills, where she worked up until her retirement in the Minor Injuries and Illness Unit.
Hazel Forbes, clinical services manager at the Minor Injuries and Illness Unit, presented Carol with a collection from colleagues which she intends to spend on a barbecue house for her garden.
Following her presentation at Whitehills, Carol and her colleagues enjoyed a meal in Forfar.
