Over eighty friends, family, players and supporters met up recently to take part in a 90 minute Zumba session to raise funds for the new Strathmore Pipeband.

Pipe Major Willie Whyte warmed up the crowd with a blast of his pipes then the evening was turned over to local instructor and piper, Rachel Young, and colleague Rachel Stephens, to put the willing participants through their paces.

A great variety of music was used to keep everyone moving, with a couple of up-beat Scottish numbers thrown in to create a party atmosphere.

Throughout all this the participants were building up a thirst but water was on hand for all, very generously donated by local company, Strathmore Water.

The evening was a great success and due to its popularity could become an annual event for the band.

Forthcoming fundraisers for 2012 include a race night, coffee morning and prize bingo.

The band will also be playing at Fettercairn Show and Glamis Castle for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
