MEMBERS of the Ancient Lodge of Forfar Kilwinning No 90 began a year of celebrations over the festive period with a gathering in the Masonic Lodge in Coutties Wynd.

The event was a celebration of the 250th anniversary of their formation and an acknowledgement of the part played by the founder members in 1762.

It also acknowledged the part played by many thousands of members since the constitution of the lodge and gave encouragement to those following in their footsteps.

The 250th anniversary of the lodge becoming a chartered member of the Grand Lodge of Scotland on December 23, 1762, also allows the Lodge to claim it is the oldest continuous organisation in Forfar.

Prior to the celebration Lodge Secretary Doug Nicol explained: “The Ancient Lodge of Forfar Kilwinning can well claim the honour of being the oldest continuous organisation in the town - they share this with all the generations who have made it so.”
