THE future of the Forfar Focus store and the fate of its workforce remained in doubt on Tuesday (yesterday) as the Dispatch went to press.

Hopes that the B & Q signs would go up on the Myre Road premises were dashed when it emerged parent company Kingfisher had short-listed 31 stores in the U.K. - but they did not include the Forfar outlet.

Kingfisher’s deal for the stores is worth more than £23 million.

The Focus DIY group was plunged into administration on May 5, putting at risk around 100 jobs at the Forfar and Arbroath outlets.

Administrators Ernst & Young launched a hunt to find a buyer in an attempt to save nearly 4,000 jobs across the U.K. and whilst the Kingfisher Group has stepped in to rescue 31 branches, these do not include the Forfar or Arbroath stores.
