A FORFAR couple have won the wedding of their dreams after raising over £8,000 for charity.
Sy Douglas and Hayley Anderson recently took part in the ‘Five Brides One Wedding’ competition run by Radio Tay as part of their Cash for Kids initiative.
In order to win the wedding, five couples had to raise as much money as possible for the charity by hosting a number of fundraisers.
Sy and Hayley raised the fantastic sum of £8,190 over the ten days they had to complete the task.
Sy said: “We ran a race night, quiz night and zumba night. Then Tesco very generously allowed us to stand outside the shop for five days.
“We also did a car boot sale and our friends and colleagues did a number of sponsored events.
“We had three different leg waxing sessions. One of Hayley’s colleagues ate a kilogram of Dairy Milk and another of her friends ate two jars of jalepenos.”
The couple would like to thank everyone who helped make their win possible.
With the date for the big day set for April 19 next year the couple can now get on with planning.
The full wedding package, which amounts to around £10,000, has been put together by a number of local businesses with the event itself taking place at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel.
Sy added: “Now we will take a well-earned rest before planning begins.”
