Members of the East and Old Parish Church will welcome 10 visitors from the Zuglo Reformed Church in Budapest on Thursday (tomorrow).
This is a reciprocal trip from July last year when 12 members of the Forfar church, including their minister, went out to Budapest, sightseeing, meeting, worshipping and paving the way for a twinning relationship between the two churches.
The group, including their pastors, will stay with five host families and have a packed schedule over five days.
There is a 7 p.m. welcoming social in church on Thursday, followed by an Angus Provost’s reception next morning in the Town and County Hall. Before lunch they will see how Forfar Bridies are made, visit Strathmore Primary and have a walk round the Loch.
On Saturday they will walk to Corrie Fee, tour Glamis Castle and attend an evening grand ceilidh in the church hall, giving them a taste of Scottish food, dancing, entertainment and hospitality.
The highlight the next morning will be a joint Sunday service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Barbara Ann and, from Zuglo, Pastors Janos and Naomi with Mihaly interpreting for everyone. This is followed by a soup lunch in church, then a trip to Arbroath Abbey and harbour. The group visit Edinburgh on Monday before their flight home on Tuesday.
