A woman has been cut free from her car following an accident on the A90 at the Muiryfaulds Junction on Thursday morning.

The woman’s gold Citreon Saxo left the road and struck a lampost on the southbound carriageway opposite the AM Phillips garage at around 8am.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the woman was conscious and breathing while emergency teams freed her from the wreckage.

A trauma team from Ninewells Hospital had been called to attend the incident and police and ambulance services were also on the scene.

The carriageway was closed for a time to allow Tayside Fire and Rescue to cut her free from the vehicle.

The accident happened just minutes after another one-vehicle incident where a silver Mazda 6 collided with the central crash barrier nearby.

The male driver of the Mazda was unhurt.

The driver of a green Rover also got into difficulties on the north-bound carriageway when they hit the central reservation around 9 am. The incident was not serious and the vehicle is believed to have been driven away from the scene.

It is unknown if the overnight snowfall contributed to the crashes.
