The role of women is celebrated

GRAEME Dey, MSP for Angus South, has called for a motion in parliament to celebrate the impact Angus’ fisher women had on improving women’s role in a male-led civic society.

His motion was set before fellow MSP’s on the 125th anniversary of the Church of Scotland Guild.

Mr Dey said: “The 125th anniversary of the Church of Scotland Guild is a timely opportunity to highlight the massive role our fisher women played in boosting females’ rights across Scottish society.

“Angus has been a strong bolt-hole of civic organisations for many years and their work and legacy continues to this day.”
