A Forfar woman has raised over £1000 for Mountains Animal Sanctuary.
Margaret Smith holds frequent dances at The Plough Inn in aid of the charity. Her most recent one raised £1202 for the sanctuary’s coffers.
Senior groom Dave Udale said: “Margaret has raised well over £6000 for us now with all the dances she has held.
“Naturally the sanctuary is very grateful for the support. She organises the events right down to the last detail - even putting the stovies on to ensure everyone is well fed at the end of it.
“ At this time of year, most of the money will be spent on horse feeds. Our main costs are feeds, farriers and veterinary costs; ultimately it’s the horses that will benefit.”
Margaret added: “I organise these dances for the sanctuary because I’ve always been interested in horses and donkeys.
“We’ve done six so far and the next one will be on Saturday, April 30 in The Plough Inn and with the same band - the Blackstone River trio.”
The dance will run from 7.30 until 12.30 pm. Entry is £8, which includes stovies and there will be a raffle.
Tickets are available from Margaret on 01307 468648.
