Storm Gertrude causes disruption

Police Scotland’s Tayside Division has advised that there are a number of reports of travel disruption across the region due to strong winds and surface water as a result of Storm Gertrude.

The Tay Road Bridge is closed to all vehicles due to strong winds and only one lane of the northbound carriageway of the Friarton Bridge is open due to an overturned trailer. Expect delays and plan alternative routes where possible.

On the A90 in Angus, an overturned Mercedes van was reported to have been affected by strong winds on the southbound carriageway at the Lochlands junction. The carriageway is open but the 26-year-old driver was taken to Ninewells Hospital with suspected rib injuries. Please drive with care and according to the road conditions.

Fallen trees and branches are causing travel disruption and road closures along a number of rural roads in Perth and Kinross and Angus. Please be alert to any signs of debris on the road and leave plenty space between the vehicle in front.
