Kirriemuir’s fundraising swimathon, SPLASH, recently held a competition to find a new logo for their relaunch this year.
Over 120 entries were received from schools in the Kirriemuir cluster and they were of an excellent quality. A final selection was judged by the SPLASH committee and the top three were selected.
The winning logo was by Katie Thomson (6) from Airlie Primary School. Her logo will be used on all promotional material. The runners up were Allan Neave (P5) of Southmuir Primary School and Joshua Hay (P4) of Cortachy Primary School.
Kirriemuir’s Splash started in 1990, and since then thousands of swimmers have raised nearly £200,000 for charities all over the world. After a brief hiatus last year the competition is raring to go again in 2016. This years event is scheduled for Saturday, September 24, and the event organisers are now taking registration details for teams that wish to take part.
Teams of six to eight people, aged eight and up, will swim in relays for 25 minutes, in what is a fun but exciting fundraising event. Any team wishing to register, or any individual wishing to find out more about the event, should email firstname.lastname@example.org. The organisers are particularly keen to get as many adult teams as possible this year.
The event is also looking for support from local businesses to sponsor lanes on the day. In previous years over 50 local sponsors have backed the event, and the Splash committee are happy to announce that the main sponsor in 2016 will be Guild Homes. Any other local businesses interested in helping out with sponsorship should also get in touch at the email address above.
