‘Dear Santa – An exhibition of some of the most popular toys from the last 50 years’ will be taking place at the Gateway to the Glens museum. Why not raid the family toy box and contribute to what is sure to be a popular and fun display?
As the countdown to Christmas day begins, and often the panic of what present to buy, staff at Kirriemuir’s Gateway to the Glens Museum are preparing an exhibition of popular toys from the last 50 years.
What was your favourite Christmas present as a child? From Simon Says to Tracy Island, many mass-produced toys have caused queues of shoppers desperate to buy one, as well as the toys that have been favourites for years, such as the teddy bear, the train set or the pram.
Do you remember writing that letter, Dear Santa, for the toy you really hoped for? Do you remember the build up of anticipation and did you eventually receive it?
Staff would love to hear from you if you still have an iconic toy from the last 50 years and would like to loan it, temporarily, for the exhibition.
The ‘Dear Santa’ exhibition starts on Saturday, November 26 and runs until January 28, 2017.
Entry is free and the classic collection of Christmas toys can be viewed during the hours of 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
For more information, or to loan a toy, contact the Gateway to the Glens Museum, The Townhouse, 32 High Street, Kirriemuir, Angus, DD8 4BB.
