PRIMARY six pupils at Southmuir Primary School ran a mini Farmers’ Market last Friday, with help from RHET ACI.
Aberfeldy Oatmeal, Arbroath Fisheries, Braes of Coull, Isabella’s Preserves and Newbigging Farm set up their stalls providing a wide range of local produce to parents and other members of the school community. The pupils wrote and invited local producers to take part and set up the school hall to host the stands. The class also produced posters and a fliers to promote the event. Younger pupils had a stand selling a recipe book they had put together.
The event drew together a number of aspects from Curriculum for Excellence, with the P6 pupils being involved in enterprise topics, maths, English and art as part of running the event and also the whole school learning about local food production through taking part.
