Something new for local youngsters

YOUNG people from all parts of Angus will take part in Angus Raccolta- the Italian word for ‘gathering’- in Forfar on Monday, January 28.

The event, to be held at the community learning and development wing of Forfar Academy, will comprise information workshops delivered by a number of local agencies including Tayside Council for Alcohol, Tayside Fire Service, Penumbra, Rebound, Angus Women’s Aid (AWARE), NHS young persons’ health workers and Angus Council community learning and development workers.

These workshops are followed by fun sessions including pizza making, African drumming, belly dancing, pampering, football and arts and craft activities.

Following the workshops and fun sessions, there will be an opportunity for young people to join Angus Youth Action groups such as those dealing with health, equalities and community safety or other groups working on community radio, film making and journalism.

At the end of the evening there will also be a celebration of success event whereby young people who have contributed to their community or school will be recognised for their achievements.

This free event is open to all young people between the ages of 12 and 25 years of age and will run from 4.30- 8.15pm. A buffet tea is provided as well as free transport from local secondary schools to and from the event.
