Social football bid to get folk in the area back into work

The unemployed and youngsters on low pay in Forfar could find themselves running their own Football Business absolutely free as an innovative scheme was announced to try and get people from the area into work.

Football Business, the biggest sellers of franchises in five and six-a-side football in the UK are offering Free Franchises to youngsters between 18-24 and the unemployed in Forfar.

Spokesman Andy Rushton explained that the move came about as the company attempts to try and help during the current difficult economic times – with recent figures showing over a million young people were unemployed.

He said: “Every time you turn the news on there’s economic doom and gloom all over the place. People are losing their jobs, youngsters are growing up with no prospects – it’s tough for everyone.

“So we sat down and tried to think of a way that we could help and this is what we came up with.

“There is very decent potential here. And there is big money to be made for the right person, who would be trained and given exactly the same start up pack as those people who pay for Franchises in other areas of the country.”

The prospective Business owners would get full training in all aspects of the business and everything they needed to start their own five or six-a-side Franchise.

Andy was eager to stress there were no catches and added: “This is about helping young people become entrepreneurs; this is about trying to give something back.

“By its very definition five-a-side is ‘social football,’ that is to say it’s designed with everyone in mind and, as such, we think that making these franchises available to the wider community is a perfect fit.
