Six months jail for store raid

A 29-year-old Forfar man has been jailed for six months after raiding a main street retail store.

Forfar Sheriff Court heard that Thomas Jones has sunk 12 cans of beer, a bottle of Buckfast tonic wine and a number of amitriptyline and diazempam tablets before stealing a DVD player, digital photo frame and a pocket reader from a Castle Street retailer. Jones, of Goosecroft, Forfar, appeared for sentence last Thursday, having previously admitted the October 11 break-in.

Jailing Jones, Sheriff Kevin Veal said: “He has had all sorts of disposals in the past, including community service and a structured deferred sentence, and he seems unable to desist from offending.”
