Many people in Forfar will be celebrating the Royal Wedding on April 29 but one proud family have their own cause for celebration.
Carol and Andrew Steel, from Forfar will be celebrating the wedding of their daughter Alison who will be marrying her fiancé, Richard Close at Forfar’s St Margaret’s Parish Church before heading to their reception which will be held at Piperdam Golf and Leisure Resort, Dundee.
Alison, aged 25, attended Kirkriggs Primary School and Forfar Academy before heading to The Robert Gordon University. She now works as a social worker in Stirling.
Alison will be marrying Richard Close from Houstoun, Renfrewshire, a livestock auctioneer with United Auctions.
Carol said: “The wedding was planned before William and Kate announced that they were going to get married on the same day.
“At first Alison was miffed because she thought she had chosen a date that no-one else would have but it has worked out well for her because now April 29 is a public holiday so it means that her friends can get the day off work to attend.
“Alison is not bothered one way or another and is certainly not excited about sharing the same day as the Royal wedding.”
Carol and Andrew, who have just celebrated their pearl wedding anniversary, also have a Royal Wedding connection as they married on the same year, 1981, that Prince Charles married Diana.
Once married, Alison and Richard will be going on honeymoon.
However, the destination will remain secret to the bride until they leave.
