A chance visit to the Forfar Dispatch office in Castle Street has successfully re-united a Birmingham man with a former work colleague.
George Sinclair and his wife Jackie travelled north in the hope of catching up with Anthony (Tony) Bell, who worked with George in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham in the 1990s.
The couple tried in vain to glean some information on Tony, his wife Ann and their son Mark, but to no avail.
Their search last Monday took them to Angus Archives and Forfar Library, but they drew a blank.
They then popped into the Dispatch office where we put them in touch with the Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre and they successfully tracked Ann down to Ninewells Hospital.
George and Tony worked together as medical engineers before Tony moved up to Forfar.
A delighted George contacted the Dispatch to say he had spoken to Tony on the phone.
He said: “Thank you so much for suggesting we visit Whitehills. It turns out Tony lives just round the corner. I spoke to him on the phone and hope to meet up before we emigrate to Florida later this year.”
