The transformation of Chapelpark Primary School into affordable housing is progressing well, both at the nursery annexe and the main building.

Once complete the prominent town centre site will provide 29 affordable Angus Council homes for social rent - comprising 18 one-bedroom flats, six two-bedroom flats, one three-bedroomed flat and four five-bedroomed townhouses.

Work on the £5.6 million project began in May to transform the empty B-listed buildings into high quality affordable homes.

Andrew Shepherd Construction of Forfar is the principal contractor for the project and has produced a virtual tour of the development.

The company’s managing director, David Shepherd, said: “Works are progressing well with internal demolitions and builder work within the main building.

“Similarly, exterior work has commenced to the structural repairs and subsequent re-slating of the main roof. Alterations to the rear of the annexe building is well underway with the internal soft strip completed and the rear demolition works commenced. The scheduled completion of the project is September 2017.”

The properties will be pre-allocated so that tenants can be involved at various stages of the development prior to receiving the keys to their new homes.
