Members of the Friockheim and District Garden Club visited Mrs Kirsten de Morgan’s garden at Ethie Castle on Wednesday, July 10.
The walled garden of this historic castle had been maintained in keeping with the immaculate condition of the building.
The garden was divided in traditional fashion into geometrical plots bordered by low box hedges, each plot containing a well chosen selection of herbaceous plants, notably some beautiful roses.
The last garden visit of the club was on Wednesday, July 24 to club member Nora Craig’s garden at Dunnichen.
A wide variety of plants was on view, and the cultivation of each was expertly explained by Nora.
In particular, members enjoyed a “scented” evening as they moved along a planned sequence of perfumed plants.
On both occasions a vote of thanks was proposed by president Elizabeth Steven.
The final meeting of the club for the 2012-2013 season will be a garden party on Sunday, August 4.
This will be hosted by Sandra O’Donnell and her husband Jim at their home in Letham Grange.
