An ‘island gathering’ of Scottish music in Forfar’s Reid Hall will kick off this year’s Forfarfest on Friday, June 3.
Headlined by Runrig legend Donnie Munro, making a return visit to Forfarfest, and his band, festival organisers and EPL Events have put together a diverse programme which showcases some of the top talent on the contemporary Scottish music scene.
Ewan Philip, of EPL Events, said: “We have booked a stellar line-up of top-level Scottish musicians from the Western Isles, in a hope of bringing both high-quality musicians and bands to Forfar.
“This will complement the amazing local talent and bring a variety of Scottish flavour to the festival.”
One of the most famous voices of Scottish music over the past 40 years, Donnie Munro has enjoyed huge success as Runrig’s frontman and as a solo artist,
The line-up is completed by Skipinnish, founded on the isle of Tiree, who were recently the basis of a documentary on BBC Alba about their life of the road in the Scottish music scene, as well as Sketch, a band from Skye who cleverly perform an exciting mix of ‘electro/techno/trad collective’ or as they describe themselves “mutant Ceilidh techno”.
Also on the programme will be well-known local musician Eddie McNaughton.
Forfarfest began in 2011 and its fifth annual showcase takes place between June 3 and 5, with high hopes of a bumper turnout across the town.
There will be a full bar service at the event and an atmosphere and talent that should not be missed. Also as with all the events I organise there will be a donation made from the profits to a charity which at this stage is yet to be confirmed.
