Work to repair roads in Kirriemuir town centre is drawing to a close, with the High Street re-opening to all traffic this morning (Monday)
Final surfacing work and finishing touches were carried out over the weekend and the barriers were to be removed at around 8am this morning.
Councillor Jeanette Gaul, who is vice convener of communities, said: “I am delighted to see this programme of works reach completion.
“It has improved the condition of the roads network at the heart of Kirriemuir and at the same time has remained true to the area’s conservation status.
“I would like to thank everyone who worked hard to complete the project and acknowledge the patience and understanding of the community throughout the duration of this important work.”
The repair and maintenance programme has been undertaken in the town’s Glengate, St Malcolm’s Wynd and High Street. It involved road re-surfacing, as well as the cobbles (or red setts) being lifted, repaired and re-established in the High Street.
