RESIDENTS in a neighbourhood in the south of Kirriemuir have pledged their support to launch a community-led project to spruce up Davidson Park.
They are crying out for help to provide facilities in the area and at a meeting held last week by the Angus Community Planning Partnership pledged to offer their support.
Lee Haxton, the partnership’s rural community planning officer, was delighted with the turnout at the meeting in the nearby Newton Hotel, and the optimism expressed by those willing to take the project forward.
He said: “I work as part of a three person team based in the Access office as part of the local community planning team. We were approached by a resident concerned about the state of the play park. We sent out leaflets in the area and a good number of people came back saying they were willing to be involved in some form of community project. We had a good number of people willing to be involved in some form of committee and we will now arrange a time and date for a future meeting. The main concern seems to be around the play area but they are looking at the park as a whole.”
He added he and a play area designer from the council’s technical services department will visit Southmuir primary school to garner their ideas for the park.
