EASY Walkers of Kirriemuir will celebrate re-homing its fiftieth animal this Friday with a meeting with the Scottish Health Minister Shona Robison.
Daryl Beech of the local animal charity announced the news last Friday prior to visiting the Forfar home of Jenna Leggat. There he saw at first hand how their latest re-homing project was progressing.
Jenna kindly gave Nick, a Collie Cross, a new home a month ago. Nick’s owner had contacted Easy Walkers with the view to having the dog re-homed.
Daryl said: “After a quick chat, she was assured Nick would be re-homed to a vetted responsible owner with time on their hands to look after and care for him. A release form signing Nick over to Easy Walkers was signed and he came into our care where he stayed for a short period of time.
“Jenna saw Nick was up for re-homing and quickly got in touch with us. After doing a home check and meeting Jenna, we noticed how passionate she was about offering a dog a home, and we went ahead with the re-homing, introducing Nick to Jenna’s kids and her two guinea pigs.”
Easy Walkers have been in constant touch with Jenna over the last three weeks.
Daryl continued: “Jenna is very happy with Nick, who is now getting all the love and attention any dog should get.
“This is a very successful re-homing with lots more to follow. We would welcome anyone experiencing difficulty within their personal life, going to hospital, moving abroad or even going to jail, to get in touch with us for help, support and advice for their pets.”
Announcing the news that Easy Walkers had successfully re-homed its 50th animal, Daryl continued:
“This is a big milestone for Easy Walkers and to celebrate the achievement, Shona Robison, the Health Minister for Scotland, has agreed to meet with myself and volunteers and some people who have re-homed pets from Easy Walkers.
“She will sign our re-homing book to mark the 50th animal re-homing and will also cut our two ribbons, blue and red for Easy Walkers colours, to mark the 50th re-homing and also to the next 50 re-homings.
“We are very pleased that Miss Robison is getting involved. It’s really exciting and I’m so pleased we have managed to achieve this.”
