A week-long celebration of the very best of Forfar’s music, food and drinks begins this weekend under the banner ‘Harvestfest’.

Building on the success of the music weekend ‘Forfarfest’, the week runs from September 27 to October 5.

There are bands to be heard, special offers to be had in food shops, cafés and restaurants, ales to be tried, whiskies to be sampled and, in one or two cases, dances to be danced.

A spokesman explained the week of events has developed on the back of the successful Forfarfest, a pub-led music weekend in May, which this year was in its third year and is now a regular date in the town’s diary.

The organisers have put together a varied programme for the week.

Saturday, September 27 has bands playing in 10 town venues, music from 2 p.m. through to 1 a.m., bands such as The Blend, Buffalo Soldiers, Independence, The CundeeZ, The New L.A. Cruisers and Shellshock taking to the stages.

On Sunday, September 28 venues again host a wide variety of music such as the Elaine Stewart Band, Monkey Allstars, Vote For Lust and the James Coutts Trio, who are the guest band at Forfar Accordion &
Fiddle Club.

Other nights through the week include 4/40 Revival in The Plough on Thursday, Blues & Rockabilly singer Cripple Lee in The Legion on Friday, October 3,

The biggest name of the Fest, Skerryvore, are in The Reid Hall on Saturday, October 4 and ex-original members of Stiff Little Fingers on Sunday, October 5.

A week of food special offers in cafés, restaurants, pubs and even butchers runs throughout and details are on the Facebook Friend page, Forfar Fiesta.
