Pursuing staff aid

NIGEL Don, MSP, has pledged he will fight for every assistance possible for the Ross and Bonnyman staff left without a job (see story above).

He said: “This is very welcome news and there will hopefully be some continuity on the site. What is now important is that help is available for the 60 or so employees not re-employed. I have been speaking to Skills Development Scotland and they have run an event to try to help them. I will be pursuing this and will contact the local job centre and the administrators to find out what other ideas they have. We have to do anything else relevant to try to pick up those who haven’t been accommodated. When a business goes bust you try to get somebody to take over the business and make the best use of the assets. Once you do that you make sure every help is available for the people who are left.”
