The Art and Design Department of Forfar Academy is throwing open the doors to the public from 5 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday (tonight).
On show will be examples of design work from last year’s S3 and S5 classes.
One of the highlights of the display will be the very large three dimensional theatrical thrones and feature seating that S5 pupils completed as part of their Higher design work.
Examples of costumes designed by the pupils have also attracted very positive praise. Most of the senior work is now with the SQA (ScottishQualifications Authority) for marking but very large items, which cannot be posted, have been retained for this one evening event.
The S3 work is represented by the diverse design work completed this year and includes graphic design, jewellery and other two and three dimensional work.
The re-use of scrap and other found materials features strongly in some of the constructions, re-cycling being one of the behaviours that the art department, and Forfar Academy as a whole, wishes to encourage.
Staff members of the department Nicole Baudon, Ally Millar and Dale Smith hope that the show will re-inforce the success of the 2011 display which drew appreciative comments from far and wide including pupils, parents, other staff and members of the public. Light refreshments are available.
