Last Tuesday Forfar Probus Club President Ian Stewart welcomed 51 members to hear a long-awaited and anticipated talk from the Very Reverend Dr James Alexander Simpson BSc BD STM DD.

He is an ex-Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and spent many years as Minister at Dornoch Cathedral in Sutherland.

He then became an Interim Minister for several years and has written 14 books, seven of which are humorous.

The proceeds of the sales have gone to alleviate cystic fibrosis and were written in memory of his late granddaughter who suffered from this condition.

James brought the greetings of Tay Probus Club in Perth and started off with a string of reminiscences about the ageing process. He had the members in the palm of his hand as he told a succession of very funny stories and anecdotes which the members could relate to.

He closed by showing the front cover of his latest book entitled ‘A Funny Way of Being Serious’ which shows two farmers, one at each end of a cow each tugging in opposite directions whilst two lawyers are busy milking the cow.

The vote of thanks was given by Larry Rogers.
